Haleakalā: Email the Park Before Your Visit
Haleakalā’s regular phone lines are currently down. Here’s the email address and temporary number to use when planning your visit.
By Erika Müller,
If you're planning a visit to Haleakalā and have a question for park staff, email is currently the best way to get in touch. A phone service problem means you'll need another way to reach the park if you were planning to call its regular numbers. As you plan, we recommend keeping the alternative contact information handy.
Send your questions to HALE_INTERPRETATION@NPS.GOV to reach park staff by email. You can ask about your upcoming visit there. We recommend stating the subject of your inquiry at the start of your message so it's clear what information you're looking for. The park's notice doesn't give an expected response time.

If you'd rather call, the temporary number is 808-490-9870. This cell phone is available to reach the park during the disruption. Keep in mind as you plan that service on this phone may be intermittent. If your call doesn't go through, that alone won't tell you whether staff can answer your question at that time.
To help plan your trip, we also suggest checking the Haleakalā National Park guide. You can then send park staff any remaining questions about your itinerary. The goal is to keep a way to reach the park that works under the current circumstances.
The park hasn't announced when regular phone service will return. If you need information before you leave, it's best to use the temporary contact information now rather than count on the regular lines working again before your visit.
