A site that publishes practical information about places that change makes mistakes. What matters is how they are handled: quickly, at the source, and without hiding them.
Reporting an error
Write to [email protected] with the page address, the passage concerned and, if you have it, the source that contradicts what we wrote. A report about a news story or a safety matter (flood, wildfire, closure) is handled first.
What we check
Every report is compared with the official source: the National Park Service press release or alert for a news story, the park’s nps.gov page for a fee, an opening time or a rule. If the source has changed since publication, we update; if we misread the source, we correct; if the report is unfounded, we reply and explain why.
How a correction appears
A factual error is corrected in the text, and a dated note at the bottom of the article says what was changed. The page’s update date changes accordingly. The page address never changes: a corrected story stays at the same address.
A typo, a misspelling or a broken link is fixed without a note.
We do not delete an article to make an error disappear. If an article no longer applies (event over, information outdated), it stays online with a note saying so.
Response times
A report gets an answer within two working days. A correction to safety information is published as soon as it is verified, weekends included.
