Yosemite: Plan Ahead for the Announced Tioga Road Closure
Tioga Road is scheduled to close temporarily Wednesday at 5 p.m. because of forecast snow, so check road conditions before planning to drive across Yosemite.
By Jocelyn Pion,
If you're planning to drive through Yosemite on Highway 120, account for an announced closure in your plans. Tioga Road is scheduled to close temporarily Wednesday at 5 p.m. The park announced the closure because snow is in the forecast. This is an upcoming restriction to plan around; it doesn't mean the road is already closed.
Tioga Road carries Highway 120 through the park, which matters when you're planning your visit. If your trip depends on that crossing, we recommend adjusting your plans around the announced closure time. Don't count on getting through after the closure to reach your next stop.

No reopening date or time has been announced in the available information. Although the closure is temporary, that doesn't establish when you'll be able to use this route again. For help planning the rest of your stay, see our Yosemite National Park guide.
Before heading toward this road, check road conditions by calling 209/372-0200, then selecting option 1 followed by option 1 again. This is the number the park provides for road conditions. We recommend checking as you plan your drive, especially if your itinerary depends on Tioga Road.
As you plan your stay, keep in mind that the announcement concerns this road and doesn't describe a park-wide closure of Yosemite. It also doesn't provide information about conditions on other roads. We therefore recommend checking your specific route before committing to your planned stops.
